After a scenic, brief floatplane flight from Juneau Airport, you'll land

exciting and safe introduction to white-water rafting. Your adventure begins
with a short but scenic drive to Mendenhall Lake where you'll have an excellent
view of Mendenhall Glacier - one and a half miles wide and one hundred fifty
feet high! Rafts carry eight to twelve people and are rowed by an experienced
guide. As you glide past Mendenhall Glacier on this iceberg-studded lake, you
will be treated to spectacular views of hanging glaciers, peaks towering 7000

Transfer by shuttle bus
to North Douglas Island for scenic views of Mendenhall Glacier and Auke Bay.
Upon arrival you’ll be outfitted and your experienced guide will teach you
paddling techniques. You’ll board modern, two person kayaks that allow you to
silently approach any wildlife in the area and give you a sense of how the famed
Aleut Indians traveled the coastal waterways of Alaska. You'll view
Mendenhall Glacier from an ocean explorer’s point of view as your guide explains

Both of the treks includes
approximately 30-35 minutes of helicopter flight time to take you to and from
your glacier landing site. On your way you will have the opportunity to witness
the landscape change from the lush forests at sea level to the granite peaks
that surround the Juneau Icefield. The core features of each trek
include time on the glacier to explore and learn, proper equipment to safely and
effectively move around the glacier surface, and knowledgeable, experienced
guides to teach you about the glacier environment and how to use the
mountaineering equipment. Both levels of treks provides a different length of
time on the glacier (from one to two hours) and a different level of physical
activity.
Helicopter Glacier Walkabout
(1 hour on glacier):
This trip is a non-strenuous, 1-hour interpretive walk. There is
plenty of time for photo opportunities. The amount of walking is moderate,
over relatively flat to rolling terrain. No previous experience is
necessary. Approximately 3 ¼ hours
including transportation to and from the heliport, safety briefing and gearing
up, 30-35 minutes of helicopter flight time and a 1-hour walk on the glacier.
Minimum age: 8 years $282.00 per person.
Helicopter Glacier Trek (2 hours on
glacier):
On this 2-hour hike, there is an early emphasis on learning the proper use of
the mountaineering gear and understanding the glacier features and hazards so
that more remote areas of the glacier can be accessed during the trek. You will
experience physical activity interspersed with detailed explanations of the
glacier environment and surrounding area. The amount of walking is extensive on
uneven and sometimes steep terrain. No previous experience is necessary but you
should be comfortable walking 2 miles over uneven terrain.
Approximately 4 ¼ hours including transportation to and
from the heliport, safety briefing and gearing up, 30-35 minutes of helicopter
flight time and a 2-hour hike on the glacier. Minimum age: 12 years.

One of the most popular helicopter tours is the
Glacier Dog Sled Adventure - combining 30-35-minutes of flightseeing over the
Juneau Icefield with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride in a dog sled
across the snow-capped glacier! After your flightseeing tour, passengers will
spend approximately one hour at an exclusive dog sled camp where they will meet
race veterans of the grueling Yukon Quest and Iditarod Sled Dog Races. The tour
is highlighted with a 20-25 minute ride across the glacier with a professional
dog musher. Passengers take turns riding in the basket and driving the dog team,
along with your guide. (Note that passengers over 250 lbs will be charged
1.5 time the regular per person price and additional space will then be
